Today is First Contact Day, at least it will be 49 years in the future, the day Zefram Cochrane launched Earth’s first warp capable ship, the Phoenix, which was detected by an alien spacecraft.
This alien spacecraft altered course and touched down in Bozeman, Montana at around 11pm on April 5th 2063.
On board this ship, the T’plana Hath, were the Vulcans.
One Vulcan gestured to Cochrane and said “Live long and prosper”. Unable to replicate the gesture, Cochrane held out his hand toward the alien visitor who held it and the two shook to Cochrane simply saying “Thanks”.
Earth would never be the same again, poverty, disease and war would be eradicated within 50 years and Cochrane’s theories on warp drive would allow fleets of starships to be built and man to explore the galaxy.
The most pivotal role in human history is set to happen on this date, so don’t forget it.
Happy First Contact Day.
Happy First Contact Day, to you too. I watched First Contact for the umpteenth time, earlier, and feel that it is by far the best film in the series.
