Since our friend Mr JJ Abrams brought the revitalised Star Trek to us in 2009, there has been one thing, among others, that has split opinion amongst new fans and old…those bloody lens flares.
Never mind having to wear 3D glasses into a cinema, you need sun glasses to get through the entire movie, with every light on the Apple Store bridge blinding you as the camera pans around.
But love it or loath it, there has been a resurgence of people enhancing thier photo’s with sun spots, light streaks and flare, me included.
Now I opt for the more subtle effect, as seen in the image of the beautiful Constitution Class USS Enterprise above, but the over the top effect looks equally cool as in the image below of said ship in full auto-destruct mode.
Photoshop has in built brushes capable of giving you this blinding effect, but the latest craze sweeping through users of Apple products is the app named LensLight, a simple yet effective solution to your lighting needs.
There are many functions to choose from, including laser effects, prism rings, spectrum bursts, rainbow ribbons and even a light saber effect (cue JJ Star Wars lens flares).
