Number 2 of my Star Trek Art, the dedication plaque found on the bridge of every Federation starship, was probably one of the easiest pieces of artwork I have done.
There are various templates of this plaque available on the net, and using element of some of these plus some of my own additions I came up with the finished product.
This was made for the Star Trek London 2012 Facebook group, in anticipation of the Destination Star Trek London convention.
The idea was to add every member of the Facebook group to a plaque, alphabetically, so that anyone attending the event had a piece of unique memoribilia to remind them of the new friends they had made.
There was also a “guests” plaque (above) where each celebrity attending the con had there name added to the design as well as plaques for hotels and custom plaques for individuals.
The ship name was in honour, of course, of the great city that was to host this convention, London and the registry was the date the convention was to be held, 19th October 2012, NCC – 191012.
There had been many downloads of these plaques and there uses are varied such as being used as screensavers, printed for use in scrap books hung on walls with other Trek pictures and also to be used for autograph signing. I even had an email telling me one was being used as a placemat!
I have made over 35 different plaques, including 11 for all the facebook group members, over 750 at the time of the con, so everyone had a plaque with there name on it.
Below are a few picture of the design process.
